Your new go-to dip is probably not hummus

Hi Reader,

If you’ve never heard of muhammara, it’s a roasted red pepper and walnut dip. I first tried it on a trip to NYC when we wanted to be a bit more adventurous and try something different from hummus... and I was completely sold!

More recently, I’ve also been looking for practical ways to help people eat more nuts. They're a great source of unsaturated fats and, despite nuts being relatively high in calories, regularly eating nuts doesn’t seem to be associated with the weight gain people often expect. In fact, some research suggests nut intake may actually be associated with better weight management.

So I knew I wanted to get a muhammara recipe up for you.

The only problem? Making it at home can involve quite a few steps, including roasting your own peppers.

And because a lot of my clients want healthy recipes that are actually realistic and easy to make, I wanted to simplify it.

My version uses jarred roasted peppers, so apart from quickly toasting the walnuts and breadcrumbs, you pretty much just blend everything together.

So it’s easy enough to make regularly, which means you’re much more likely to actually eat it and get the benefits.

🥣 THIS WEEK'S RECIPE

Quick Muhammara

A roasted red pepper and walnut dip.

🍳 A quick ingredient note: I’m always conscious of recommending recipes that make you buy ingredients you may never use again, so I wanted to flag that this one does use two things you might not already have: pomegranate molasses and aleppo pepper. There aren’t really great swaps for either without changing the flavor, so I don’t want to pretend they’re optional. But I do think they’re worth it for this recipe... and if you like muhammara as much as I do, they definitely won’t go to waste. I’ve already gone through all my pomegranate molasses!

Hope your week is full of good food and good rest 🤍

P.S. If you make any of these recipes, I'd love it if you would leave a star rating ⭐️ on my website. It helps my small business and our community so much!

Stay happy & healthy!

RECIPES | YOUTUBE | SHARE FEEDBACK Hi Reader, Happy Friday! Today, I want to talk about a topic that came up in clinic a lot this week: protein powders. First, I’m all for prioritizing protein. I find many clients have huge success when they increase their protein intake. They often notice fewer cravings, feel more satisfied after meals, find weight management easier, and can better support things like muscle health and blood sugar balance. But despite what social media might have you...

RECIPES | YOUTUBE | SHARE FEEDBACK Hi Reader, How is it September already?! September always gives me that little “new year” feeling, so before I fully embrace the reset, I wanted to take one last look back at August and share a few things I loved. One of the biggest highlights was spending time in New York with my mom. I was there for work too and got to film YouTube videos at Kit Studios, which was such a pinch-me experience, but having mother daughter time in the big city was definitely...
