My little trick for making oats taste like cake 🍰

all my favorites | recipes | videos

Hi Reader,

It's no secret that I am a big fan of oats in all shapes and forms.

But recently, I've been making these fluffy blended baked oats, which are almost like having a little cake for breakfast!

The trick is really simple. Instead of baking the oats whole, I blend everything into a smooth batter first. It completely changes the texture, making them soft, light and fluffy rather than your usual bowl of oatmeal.

I've been adding flaked almonds and a little dusting of powdered sugar to mine for an almond croissant-inspired twist. So good!

And of course, as a dietitian, I love that we can make something that feels like a little breakfast treat while still getting some protein, fiber and plenty of goodness from everyday ingredients.

🥣 THIS WEEK'S RECIPE

Blended Baked Oats

Made with oats, banana, milk, egg white and served with Greek yogurt.Just blend, pour into a small baking dish and let the oven do the rest.

A few reasons I love this one:

  • No protein powder needed
  • Naturally sweetened with ripe banana
  • Easy to customize with berries, chocolate chips or almonds
  • Perfect for a cozy weekend breakfast

🍳 One little tip: The size of your baking dish makes a difference. I recommend a small oven-safe ramekin (around 12 oz). A deeper dish might need a few extra minutes in the oven to cook through.

Hope your week is full of good food and good rest 🤍

P.S. If you make any of these recipes, I'd love it if you would leave a star rating ⭐️ on my website. It helps my small business and our community so much!

Stay happy & healthy!

all my favorites | recipes | videos Hi Reader, There are certain foods that just taste better at this time of year, and warm apple crumble is definitely one of them. So this week’s Sunday Spoonful is one of my older recipes that deserves another moment: my healthy apple crumble with oats. It has everything I want from an apple crumble; warm cinnamon apples and a crunchy oat topping... but I’ve made a few simple tweaks so it’s a lot more filling and works just as well for breakfast as it does...

RECIPES | YOUTUBE | SHARE FEEDBACK Hi Reader, Welcome to that time of year when every coffee shop menu suddenly turns into pumpkin, maple, caramel and cinnamon everything. 🎃☕ And I’m here for it. But seasonal drinks are also one of those places where sugar can add up surprisingly quickly. And there’s something important I want you to know before you look at the nutrition information and panic at the sugar number. Total sugar and added sugar are not the same thing. Take a latte made with dairy...

all my favorites | recipes | videos Hi Reader, Have you heard of “dump and bake” recipes? Neither had I until this year. I’m pretty sure it’s one of those terms social media invented for recipes where you basically dump everything into one dish and let the oven do the work. The big upside is very little washing up. Or at least there shouldn’t be if you’re following the concept properly! I love this style of cooking because it’s quick, easy and realistic for busy weekdays. My nutrition clients...
