How to ACTUALLY Lose Weight & Tone Up - Dietitian Explains

Hi Reader, 👋

I'm writing to you this week from LOS ANGELES... how crazy is that?!

If you didn’t know, I was spotted as an upcoming YouTube talent and flown all the way to California for an ideas summit — where top YouTubers like Colin & Samir, Jon Youshaei, and Danny Duncan actually sat down to brainstorm and interview me about MY CHANNEL. What the heck!!! I’m still pinching myself. 😅

I started my YouTube channel just 18 months ago with 0 subscribers — and honestly, I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be where I am today.

The biggest thing I’ve learned? Chase your dreams. Aim high. You never know where it could take you. But — and this is a big but — you also have to put in the work. I’ve spent countless hours filming, editing, learning, and trying to create the best content I possibly can to bring you value... and I’m so, so grateful it’s paying off.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here, for supporting me, and for believing in what I’m building. I genuinely can’t wait to make even better videos for you over the next 18 months and beyond! 🚀

💌 As always, I love hearing from you. Let me know what topics or recipes you'd love me to cover next—or what you're struggling with most when it comes to eating well and feeling your best.

I always read and reply 💚

📚 WHAT TO READ THIS WEEK! 📚

What to Eat For Glowy Skin

Want that natural glow without spending a fortune on skincare? This blog post breaks down the best foods to nourish your skin from the inside out. Simple, everyday eats that help you glow — no filter needed. ✨

🌟Updates & Things I'm Loving This Week🌟

📚BOOK: Im current listening to "The Plan" by Kendra Adachi - — and even though I’m only halfway through, I’m already hooked. It’s a productivity book, but written by a woman (finally!). Most books in this space are by male authors, and I just find Kendra’s style so much more relatable. It feels like chatting with a friend, not getting a lecture.

💬 Email & YouTube replies: As you may already know, I reply to all my YouTube comments and emails - however I have been travelling a lot over the last few weeks and I have accumulated a bit of a backlog. If you’re waiting on a reply — I promise I’m not ignoring you! I truly appreciate your patience, and I’ll get back to you very soon. 💛

CLINIC SLOTS🗒️: If you are on the waiting list, please hang tight and for my US audience I am working behind the scenes on ways to work with you too 💚

🥣 WHAT TO MAKE THIS WEEK! 🍽

Snickers Yogurt Cups

These taste like dessert but are secretly packed with protein. Think creamy, peanutty, chocolatey goodness with a little crunch… and zero baking required!

📢 Reader Question of the Week:

“Maria, I’m trying to eat healthier but I always get snacky at night. Is it bad to eat after 8pm?”

Great question — and one I get a lot!

I usually recommend frontloading your food earlier in the day when your body needs more fuel (think: bigger breakfast, solid lunch, lighter dinner). That said, if you’re genuinely hungry at night, it’s totally okay to have a little something — just make it a balanced, protein-rich snack that won’t mess with your sleep. A few of my go-to options? Greek yogurt with berries, a banana with peanut butter, or a slice of wholegrain toast with cottage cheese.

👉 I’ve actually written a full blog post on this called “Healthy Bedtime Snacks for Weight Loss” — you can read it here for loads more snack ideas and tips!

Have a nutrition question you’d like answered? Hit reply and let me know!

Hi friends👋 As a dietitian, I never set out to work in weight loss. Honestly? I have qualifications that go far beyond that — gut health, fertility, prenatal nutrition… I’ve spent years specialising in these areas. But the truth is, I kept getting asked for help with weight loss. And when I did? People got incredible results. So even though it wasn’t my original plan, I’ve leaned into it — because helping people lose weight in a realistic, compassionate, and sustainable way is something I...

Hi friend👋 Sharing an ugly truth about myself today. Everyone that watches me on YouTube remarks that I come across as a very nice person...but wait. I’m a nice person… until I’m hungry. And I know we all get a little hangry now and then, but trust me I'm particularly bad! And here’s the thing — I know I’m not alone. A lot of people try to lose weight or improve their health by eating less, and suddenly they’re tired, irritable, and just plain miserable. Not because they lack willpower, but...

Haemochromatosis Awareness Week

Hi friend👋 I want to talk about something a little different today — something really personal. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with haemochromatosis, also known as iron overload. It’s a genetic condition where your body stores too much iron — and over time, that excess iron builds up in your organs and can cause serious damage. Here’s the thing: I wasn’t alone. My dad has it. So does my sister. And both of my brothers. But despite all that, I still went undiagnosed until my late 20s. The...
