Hi Reader,

It feels like everyone is back to school, and hurricane season has well and truly arrived here in Bermuda. We’re all indoors today with lots of thunder & lightning outside.

Weather like this makes me want to put on a comfy hoodie, get cozy and make something warm. That’s exactly what put these cinnamon air fryer apples into my head.

🥣 THIS WEEK'S RECIPE

Air Fryer Apples With Cinnamon and Brown Sugar

Tastes like the gooey filling of a warm apple pie.

My favorite version of these air fryer apples is made with a little butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.

That might surprise some people because I’m a dietitian, but healthy eating does not mean every ingredient has to be the “healthiest” possible option. You are still eating apples, and there is room for a little butter and sugar in a healthy diet.

The natural sweetness of the apples does most of the work, so you only need one tablespoon of brown sugar for the entire recipe. If you prefer, I also tested them with olive oil and maple syrup, and that version works really well too. Avocado oil is another good option because its neutral flavor won’t take away from the apples.

I like serving the warm apples with Greek yogurt. As well as tasting lovely together, the yogurt adds protein and makes this a more balanced and satisfying snack.

Pairing carbohydrate foods with a source of protein, fat or fiber can also help slow digestion and support steadier blood sugar levels.

You could also serve them over oatmeal/porridge or pancakes for breakfast, or with ice cream when you want more of a dessert.

🍳 psst - this is the air fryer that I love, ninja air fryers are also a firm favorite.

One mistake I see all the time is skipping the preheating step. Preheating helps your food cook more evenly. If your air fryer does not have a preheat button, simply let it run at the cooking temperature for a few minutes before adding your food.

Hope your week is full of good food and good rest 🤍

P.S. If you make any of these recipes, I'd love it if you would leave a star rating ⭐️ on my website. It helps my small business and our community so much!

Stay happy & healthy!

RECIPES | YOUTUBE | SHARE FEEDBACK Hi Reader, How is it September already?! September always gives me that little “new year” feeling, so before I fully embrace the reset, I wanted to take one last look back at August and share a few things I loved. One of the biggest highlights was spending time in New York with my mom. I was there for work too and got to film YouTube videos at Kit Studios, which was such a pinch-me experience, but having mother daughter time in the big city was definitely...

RECIPES | YOUTUBE | SHARE FEEDBACK Hi Reader, Before August disappears, I wanted to give you a quick recipe catch-up. I’ve pulled together four recent recipes, including a couple that have already picked up five-star ratings, plus a few others I think are especially worth saving. And just a quick reminder: if you make one of my recipes, leaving a rating and review really helps support my small business and allows me to keep creating free recipes and nutrition content for you ❤️ And if there’s...

RECIPES | YOUTUBE | SHARE FEEDBACK Hi Reader, I was reading a new study this week and I was so excited to share it with you 📚. People with sarcopenia, meaning low muscle strength and/or low muscle mass, had about a 30% higher relative rate of dementia. Interestingly, having obesity as well did not seem to increase the risk much further. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know I’m always talking about how important muscle is for metabolism, strength and independence as we age. But this study...
