The one thing to do before setting any New Year goal

Hi Reader 👋

Happy New Year! I wanted to pop in with a little encouragement as we all start thinking about resolutions and fresh starts.

The unfortunate truth is that most New Year’s resolutions fizzle out within a few weeks.

But that doesn’t mean:

a) you shouldn’t set goals (being intentional is powerful), or
b) you’re “doomed” to fail again this year.

Often it’s not a willpower problem. It’s that the goals were unrealistic, too intense, or didn’t fit real life in the first place.

When I work with clients, one of the first steps, whether the goal is weight loss, gut health, or fertility... is looking back before we move forward.

Because if the same goal keeps showing up year after year and it never sticks, there’s usually a reason. Ask yourself:

• Was the goal too big or unrealistic?
• Did I have enough support?
• Was life simply too busy or stressful at the time?

And don’t forget to notice what HAS worked before.

Think about times you were consistent, felt healthier, or saw progress. Those moments prove that you can make change. Pull those lessons forward.

Then gently notice the patterns that didn’t help and instead of beating yourself up, simply decide not to repeat them.

This year, aim for realistic, kind, sustainable changes — the ones you can see yourself still doing in six months’ time.

Hi Reader 👋 As we head into the final stretch of 2025, remember these words... "The key to optimal health is consistency & the key to consistency is enjoyment". This is the time of year where people often feel a bit sluggish and start contemplating a massive health transformation come January. Now I LOVE a New Year with new goals and new habits, BUT success always comes down to doing small things well over a long period of time. This is true for health habits, weight loss, relationships and...
