Dietitian Warns: 5 Black Friday Nutrition Scams You Should Avoid

Hi Reader

Every year when Black Friday rolls around, I get this little knot in my stomach… because I know how many people are about to be taken advantage of by sneaky wellness “deals.”

And you know me — the whole mission of my YouTube channel and social platforms is to give FREE, reliable, evidence-based nutrition advice to as many people as possible. So when I see people spending money on things they absolutely do not need, it doesn’t make me angry… it actually makes me a little sad.

Why sad?
Because the wellness industry rarely tells you the truth: the biggest barriers to good health have nothing to do with willpower. They’re things like income, education, stress, and access to healthy food.

Yet somehow the messaging convinces us that we need to buy our way into being healthy. We really, truly don’t.

After years working in hospitals, do you want to know the one thing I genuinely do recommend investing in?
A solid health insurance plan.

It blows my mind how often people skip it because of the cost… yet still find space in the budget for gadgets, impulse purchases, or things marketed as “health essentials.”

I get it, prioritizing the boring stuff is hard - but financial stress hits even harder when unexpected health issues pop up.

And listen, I’m not anti–Black Friday. I love a good bargain! But it’s worth remembering that the best things in life are usually free.

So… there are no clickable, shoppable links in today’s newsletter.

Just a gentle reminder to spend intentionally — and a new video to help you avoid wasting money this weekend.

🎥WHAT TO MAKE THIS WEEK!🎥

This week I’m sharing my in-demand Rocky Road recipe — and just a heads up, it’s not pretending to be healthy in any way. It’s the real deal: proper chocolate, real butter, all the good stuff.

But I promise… once you make this, you’ll never bother with another rocky road recipe again. It’s that good. The kind of recipe that makes people instantly ask, “Wait, who made this?”

Bring it to a gathering and you’ll gain friends. Honestly.

But to balance it out, I'm also sharing my healthier version 🤣 which is also very very good!

Rocky Road with Maltesers

Packed with crunchy Maltesers, chewy marshmallows, buttery biscuits, and smooth chocolate

Healthy Rocky Road

Made with dark chocolate, fresh berries, and nuts instead of marshmallows and sweets.

Hi Reader First things first... I owe you a little apology. I've been quieter than usual in your inbox lately. Life has been full (in the best and busiest ways), and I let the emails slip. I haven't forgotten about you though! And honestly, coming back with this week's topic felt right, because it's one I've been wanting to talk about for a while. Blood pressure. I know. It doesn't exactly scream exciting. It's not going to go viral. It's not a trending topic and its not going to get many...

Hi Reader I’m writing this from a plane on the way to Hawaii for my honeymoon ✨ I’ll be doing a lot of hiking and walking while I’m there… which actually ties in perfectly with the YouTube video I’ve been working on over the past few weeks. I’ve seen so many videos lately saying there’s a “right way” to walk for fat loss… And honestly, as a dietitian who really values keeping things simple… it’s getting a bit ridiculous. Apparently we need to be:- interval walking- fasted walking- in Zone 2-...

Hi Reader 👋 As a dietitian, I do believe supplements can play an important role. But honestly? Most people are wasting a lot of money on the wrong ones. I’ve just put together a full YouTube video and a detailed article breaking this down, so you can stop guessing and start being more intentional with what you take. Here’s the part that might surprise you… There is only one supplement I consistently recommend to almost everyone. And if you’re not taking it, it’s worth seriously considering. 👉...
